Real Chukai Football Club (“Real Chukai”) have secured a three-year lease extension of the Mak Chili Stadium, with a six-year option to extend. Real Chukai current lease at the facility was expired at the end of January 2023, but the club has already concluded their discussions for a renewed agreement with the Kemaman Municipal Council (“MPK”), which acts as a landlord to both Mak Chili Stadium and the neighbouring Kerteh Mini Stadium, the home of M5 football team Kerteh Football Club. Real Chukai are reportedly planning an estimated RM4m (USD$1m) in renovations to the Mak Chili Stadium. The planned, periodic upgrades will include adding a seating terrace across the grandstand as well as an additional small football pitch, suitable for nine-a-side football to keep up with the growing number of students within their academy.
